Desire Is Your Friend

Quick! Tell me ten things YOU truly desire.
Can you name at least one thing (or a couple) right away? If so, well done! You've maintained contact with your sense of desire in an adult life, likely full of responsibility.
But if even the word 'desire' makes you squirm or go completely numb, if you draw a blank, then you are not alone!
Many of us have absorbed the belief that desire is dangerous, an obstacle, something to be disciplined away, denied, and overcome. Often, we equate desire with addiction and unhealthy craving. As a result, we can lose touch with ourselves. Without desire...
Sound familiar? Becoming overly attached to our desires can be just as dangerous as ignoring them completely. So consider a third way, imbedded in the yogic tradition:
When viewed through this lens, desire becomes a friend instead of the enemy. To change metaphors, desire is a compass, pointing us in the right direction. In a world full of choices and other voices, desire keeps us on OUR path.
Getting in touch with and wisely navigating desire, however, takes time and space--and often a guide to listen and encourage. That's exactly why I've created my March retreat.
At Sankalpa: Living with Heartfelt Intention, we'll explore yoga, meditation, energy work, and mindful art practices. We'll get in touch with our desires and form a sankalpa, or affirmative statement, to guide our choices in the season ahead.
I hope you'll join us for this amazing day! Questions? Use the contact form on my website to get in touch. Or sign up.
Namasté friend!
