Hence, the Yoga... How My Practice Is Saving Me
Christa Hogan | MAR 8, 2023

Often students at my in-person classes slide into the studio harried from work and life, stuck in their heads from a full day. They don't feel very Zen, very yoga-like, they say, which is where I smile and offer, "Hence, the yoga." I watch the tension ease from their faces as they slip into the studio to find their places.
This is the gift of yoga. For one hour, we can finally get out of our heads and set down all that came before and all that will come after. This small act of self-care can mean the difference between losing it with the kids and leaning in for a hug instead. Between throwing in the towel and digging deeper. Between clinging to something that no longer serves us and being able to grow into what's next.
Yoga is saving me too. Every day and in a million different ways. Because I'm dedicated to my practice. We can know in our heads that yoga is something we should do. We can read and write nice blog posts about it. But it isn't until we lay out our mats that transformation begins.
So no more excuses. If you know something needs to change, and you're feeling the pull of yoga, then it's time. Your life doesn't have to be neat or perfect. In fact, those who receive the biggest benefit come to yoga because their lives are a mess. Hence, the yoga.
